UP THERE from The Ritual Project on Vimeo.

I've just stumbled across this incredible film showcasing the amazing talent and skill of those people who still hand paint advertisements on buildings in NYC. I am absolutely in awe of their talent and watching this beautiful film, greatly admire the fact that these people genuinely love their job despite the dangerous and unfriendly climates they work in!I hope there will always be a place for these advertisements despite modern technology meaning cheaper and faster alternatives......

Having spent almost a full day indulging myself with the visual pleasures of the internet, namely blogs by designers/artists and fellow graduates - and the infinite worlds that exist when you follow endless links, I feel generously renewed, inspired and maybe just slightly cross-eyed. I learnt courtesy of pentagram (http://pentagram.com/en/new/2010/01/what-type-are-you.php) that if i was to be reincarnated in the form of typography, i would be pistilli roman......and as beautiful a type it is i' still not completely sure what that means.

I also watched this talk by Jack featherstone on the 'its nice that' site, watch it here http://www.itsnicethat.com/articles/1913-talk-12-jack-featherstone. its great to see how early projects develop and grow into something exciting - and realising the key is to not put too much pressure on an idea but to just work it through. only wish Id learnt this sooner.

drawing superstars

so, heres a few more people that have been making me happy today ....the wonderful work of liv bargman - she can't help but make any ones day a little bit better, check out her site here http://www.livbargman.co.uk/homepage.html. her style reminds me a lot of oliver jeffers with the collage/hand drawn approach and i think its absolutely magic. this book cover in particular makes me want to live in her drawings.
